Kayna and I have been friends on Facebook for some time now.  Her and her family had just moved to Ohio from Nashville and were looking for friends and recommendations on business’ in the area.  So I was so excited when she inquired about getting holiday portraits done, the Diverse Images by Shari way. ;)   She is an awesome person and her son Spencer is such an amazing kid with a sense of humor.  I could have hung out with them all day!  I had such a great time and hope that we can all get together for coffee or dinner.

Jessica’s mom, Rhonda, was referred to me by a previous client.  So first a BIG THANK YOU to Stacey B! ;)    The thing that I noticed about Jessica right away was that she is comfortable with herself and who she is.  The first 10 minutes of any photo shoot is always weird, for lack of a better word.  Photography is such an intimate process, and it takes a minute to get acquainted with your photographer.  Jessica was awesome and once we got past the “

weird” stage she was so comfortable in front of the camera.  By the end of the shoot, she was light searching with me and found the most amazing light for her images.  She froze her butt off in that rockin prom dress though.  Standing ovation girl!!  Your images totally ROCK because of YOU!!!  I had a blast meeting you and your mom and of course, Daisy. ;)

These are two of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met.  We laughed, we acted prissy and we even shared hugs!  When we were getting ready to leave I asked for another hug for the road and Rylie asked, “you want a cheap K-mart hug?” LOL  Out of the mouths of babes. ;)   Happy 5th birthday girls!

Cody is an AMAZING kid!  I am so glad that I had the opportunity to meet him.  Cody’s mom (Tonya) and I knew each other as children and it had been about 15 years since I had seen her.  It was a heartwarming and emotional shoot for me.  Cody’s particular shoot was a two-day process.  Tonya had asked me if I could come to New London and take some shots of Cody on his motorcycle because the motorcycle wasn’t running at the time.  I arrive and set up while Dave (Tonya’s husband) pushed the motorcycle to the location that I directed him to.  Dave and I were chatting about the bike while I was setting up and that’s when I learned that the motorcycle was Cody’s dad’s motorcycle.  Cody’s dad, Keith, was killed in an auto accident when Cody was 3 years old and Tonya had saved his motorcycle for Cody.  Let me tell you, I had to suck back the tears when I learned that this motorcycle had so much meaning to this family.  Keith would be so proud of his son.  He is truly a good, wholesome, down to earth, respectful and kind kid.    Thank you to Cody and his family, especially his little sister that invited me to stay for dinner ;) , for allowing me to create these amazing memories for Cody’s last year of high school.

Bethany’s shoot was one of the most challenging for me.  We arrive at the location with all of the equipment in hand and discover that the man from the rental shop hadn’t given me the cord that I needed.  I drive from Bexley back to Clintonville, pick up the cord and drive back to Bexley all the while Bethany and her mom are waiting for me with my partner/assistant.  Guess what…the guy at the rental shop gave me the wrong cord!!  I was in such a frenzy that I didn’t even pay attention when picking it up.  My assistant drives back to Clintonville to get the correct cord and I start scanning the location.  Luckily there were some amazing reflections that I used to my advantage until the correct equipment arrived.  SHEW!  Lots of lessons learned that day!  One of them being…always triple check and know your equipment.

Bethany has the most beautiful hair that I’ve ever seen!!  She actually won the “Best Hair” award for her senior class.  She was such a delight to share the day with.  She loves children and volunteers at a summer camp for kids, which is held at the location where we shot her portraits.  She enjoys playing softball for her high school.  While we were looking at a possible location, she spotted a HUGE groundhog about 15 feet from where we were!! LOL  I freaked! Ug!  She on the other hand was very nonchalant about the thing. ;)   I had a great time capturing Bethany’s senior portraits, and learned some very valuable lesson.

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been living in Columbus for over 10 yrs. now and this was my very first Doo-Dah Parade!!! I know, right?!  Anyone that knows me knows that I love things that are different and love “outside the box” thinkers.  I was in heaven at the Doo-Dah Parade.  Enjoy the 29 image slideshow.;)
